Two Powerful Tools to Protect the Boundary Waters
What’s the difference between the Save the Boundary Waters Action Fund and the Political Action Committee?
To permanently protect the Boundary Waters, we must both influence policy and win elections. That’s why we have two distinct but complementary efforts working together:

501(c)(4) Advocacy Organization
The Save the Boundary Waters Action Fund is our advocacy powerhouse — educating the public, lobbying lawmakers, and mobilizing grassroots supporters to protect the Wilderness.
What it does:
-
Advocates for permanent protection from sulfide-ore copper mining
-
Mobilizes public pressure on elected officials
-
Runs issue-based ad campaigns
-
Engages voters, Candidate endorsements
Your gift supports:
-
Public education
-
Legislative lobbying
-
Organizing and outreach campaigns
Donations to the Action Fund are not tax-deductible. There are no contribution limits, and gifts can come from individuals or eligible organizations.

State Political Action Committee (PAC)
The PAC is our electoral arm — helping elect Boundary Waters Champions and defeat those who would roll back protections.
What it does:
-
Endorses candidates who support Boundary Waters protections
-
Raises and spends money to help elect those candidates
-
Holds anti-Wilderness politicians accountable during elections
Your gift supports:
-
Candidate endorsements
-
Electoral strategy and outreach
-
Campaign materials and voter guides
Donations to the PAC are not tax-deductible. Corporate contributions are prohibited. Contributions are limited by Minnesota law. Donor information is reported for gifts over $200 per year.
