Boundary Waters Action Fund Endorses Jen McEwen in Minnesota Senate District 7

Endorsement is Action Fund’s First in State Legislative Races This Cycle

Ely, MN – Today, Boundary Waters Action Fund (BWAF) endorsed Jen McEwen for Minnesota State Senate ahead of the primary election on August 11.

This follows BWAF’s endorsements in several U.S. House races on Monday as part of its 2020 election program to elevate the threat of sulfide-ore copper mining near the Boundary Waters, which includes endorsing and supporting pro-Boundary Waters candidates in races up and down the ballot.

“We are excited to endorse Jen McEwen for Senate District 7 ahead of the August 11 primary, marking our first endorsement in a state legislative race this election cycle,” said Alex Falconer, Director of the Boundary Waters Action Fund. “Jen has enthusiastically committed to supporting permanent protections for the Boundary Waters from sulfide-ore copper mining. Duluth deserves someone fighting to protect northeastern Minnesota’s clean water legacy and outdoor recreation economy, and Jen McEwen is that champion.”

This endorsement comes as new polling shows that nearly 70% of Minnesotans favor protecting the Boundary Waters from sulfide-ore copper mining. Furthermore, 57% of Minnesotans are more likely to vote for a candidate who opposes sulfide-ore copper mining on the edge of the Boundary Waters.
